Flea Preparation Guide

This guide to flea and tick service summarizes the written instructions, and the instructions you receive for your home come first.

How to prepare before treatment day

Complete these necessary steps prior to your flea and tick home application.

  • Vacuum floors, rugs, and upholstered furniture throughout the house.
  • Wash all pet bedding in hot water before the technician arrives.
  • Have pets treated by a veterinarian during the same week as service.
  • Clear all toys, loose items, and clutter off interior floor spaces.
  • Read your written preparation and reentry instructions before treatment day.
  • Plan for an interior floor and furniture service plus yard treatment.
  • Expect a follow-up visit about two weeks later to check results.

Treatment day procedures

  • Leave access to every room and the yard for the technician.
  • Arrange for pets to be out of the home as your written instructions say.
  • Reentry follows the written instructions delivered for your home.
  • Confirm pets received veterinary care as required for flea service.

Following up after treatment

You return to the home when the written instructions tell you to do so. Do not enter the treated areas until those written directions authorize your return.

Not every problem is solved in a single visit. Flea and tick service includes a follow-up visit about two weeks later to continue the treatment.

Your written instructions come first

Always prioritize the written preparation and reentry instructions sent directly to your home over web guides.
