Bed Bug Preparation Guide

This guide to bed bug treatment summarizes the written instructions, and the instructions you receive for your home come first.

Tasks to finish before treatment day

Follow these prep steps prior to conventional bed bug treatment at your residence.

  • Wash and dry bedding and clothing as your written instructions say.
  • Place laundered fabrics into sealed plastic bags to protect them.
  • Clear all stored items from under beds and around bedroom furniture.
  • Remove clutter from floor areas throughout every bedroom.
  • Vacuum carpets, rugs and furniture before treatment day.
  • Do not move items from treated rooms to other rooms.
  • Note that Whiptail uses conventional treatment, no heat treatment.
  • Expect a follow-up visit about two weeks later to check activity.

Requirements on treatment day

  • Finish the written preparation checklist before the technician arrives.
  • Keep all pets away from treated areas during service.
  • Reentry follows the written instructions supplied for your appointment.
  • Leave bagged laundered items sealed until treatment is completed.

Post-treatment guidance

You can reenter the home only when the written instructions say it is time. Everyone must remain outside the treated areas until those written directions allow return.

Not every problem is solved in one visit. Bed bug treatment includes a follow-up visit about two weeks later, and more visits if activity remains.

Your written instructions come first

Your specific written paperwork takes priority. Follow the document issued for your home before treatment day.
