Subterranean Termite Control

Subterranean termites live in the soil and build pencil-width mud tubes to travel above ground.

Recognizing subterranean termites

Subterranean termites live below ground level in soil colonies. Winged swarmers appear in warm weather, often after rain, leaving discarded wings on windowsills as a common first sign.

Winged termites have a straight, thick waist and straight antennae, unlike ants which feature pinched waists and elbowed antennae.

Signs of subterranean activity

  • Pencil-width mud tubes

Mud shelter tubes cross foundation concrete, stem walls and plumbing penetrations.

  • Discarded swarmer wings

Swarmer wings collect on window ledges and baseboards after warm seasonal rains.

  • Hidden wall damage

Termites enter through expansion joints or slab cracks, causing damage behind drywall.

How Whiptail treats subterranean termites

We perform liquid soil treatments around foundation perimeters using trenching and drilling where needed, place in-ground bait and monitoring stations, or apply localized spot treatments based on inspection findings.
