Argentine Ant Control

Argentine ants are small, dark brown insects that form large outdoor colonies and travel in distinct lines.

Recognizing the Argentine ant

Argentine ants are small, measuring about a tenth of an inch long, and dark brown in color. All worker ants in a colony are the same size.

Their trails run in well-defined lines. Colonies contain multiple queens and can grow very large over time.

Where Argentine ants travel

  • Visible foraging lines

Workers travel together along long, tight paths across concrete and exterior structures.

  • Landscape irrigation

Trails frequently follow irrigation lines and damp soil beds searching for moisture.

  • Foundation edges

Nests and foraging paths run along slab borders and hollow block walls.

How Whiptail handles Argentine ants

Our technicians apply ant baits along active trailing areas and perform exterior perimeter treatments around foundation bases, weep screens and garden gravel to reach colony sources.

Argentine ant questions

Why are dark ants trailing along my foundation?

Argentine ants travel in narrow, well-defined lines along slab edges, block walls and irrigation pathways while searching for moisture during dry months.

Why are there so many worker ants outside?

Argentine ant colonies contain multiple queens, which allows single nests to expand into large networks across properties. These small, dark brown ants travel in well-defined trailing lines toward moisture and food sources.

What happens during an ant service visit?

Your technician inspects property borders, places specialized ant baits along established trails and explains all treatment costs before starting work.

Dana did a blacklight inspection at night and found bark scorpions in our block wall. She treated the yard and installed weep screen guards. Now our Scorpion Plan includes visits every two months.

We needed a formal Wood Destroying Insect report to sell our house. Marco came out and inspected the slab and garage thoroughly. He sent the written report to our agent the next business day.

We heard scratching in the attic. Luis found where roof rats were getting in, sealed the entry points with steel mesh, and set traps. He came back to check the traps just like he promised.

We use the quarterly plan for ants and spiders. When we saw a few ants return near the kitchen in summer, they came back out and treated the area again at no charge.

Kim gave us a written checklist to prepare our bedrooms for bed bug treatment. She treated the furniture and baseboards, then returned about two weeks later to check for activity.
